Boggy Billy, sometimes spelled Boggy Billie,[2] is a character in The Precursor Legacy. He lives in a small hut situated in eastern Boggy Swamp, over which he claims ownership.[3] The drunken hillbilly's only companion in the swamp wilds is his pet hip hog, Farthy, who he is reunited with after crossing paths with Jak and Daxter during their stay at the nearby Rock Village.
History[]

Jak and Daxter speaking with Boggy Billy.
Jak and Daxter first met Boggy Billy while exploring Boggy Swamp. His pet hip hog, Farthy, had recently run away due to the worsening lurker infestation. He had vainly attempted to set out the hip hog's favorite snacks to lure him back, though the swamp rats kept stealing them.
Boggy Billy thus offered Jak a power cell if he could fend off the rats long enough for Farthy to return, in the mission "Protect Farthy's snacks". Jak did so, to Farthy's return and Boggy Billy's elation.
Characteristics[]

Concept art of Boggy Billy.
Boggy Billy fits the hillbilly stereotype associated with his name: slurred speech (on account of his presumably alcoholic beverage); a southern vernacular;[4] a foul smell due to never bathing[3]—as observed by Daxter, and as evidenced by the swarm of houseflies surrounding him and his hut; a generally disheveled and unclean appearance; a lazy, slouching posture; and although not seen in-game, he has frequently been implied to play the banjo.[2][5]

Despite showing pride in his swamp, he has an apparent aversion to its heat, mentioning his desire for "summer coolant", and that the heat gives him a rash and the "pricklies". In his drunken stupor he also mentions his mother and a certain "brown medicine" she used to give him.[4] He appears to care for little else as much as his pet hip hog, exhibiting a depressed state while he was lost, rectified only by his return.
Boggy Billy is a human male, with fair skin, bucked teeth, and a lanky build, save for his large gut, presumably on account of his alcohol consumption. He wears an off-white tank top, baggy green overalls, and a frayed top-hat covering his eyes, through the top of which his bright orange hair protrudes.
Behind the scenes[]
The non-canon "Where Are They Now?" section of The Official Jak 3 Guide details Boggy Billy's post-The Precursor Legacy exploits. After watching motivational tapes, Billy supposedly opened his own casino in Boggy Swamp called Southern Bells and Whistles. It eventually sank into the mud due to being poorly constructed and zoned. A year later, he opened an amusement park called Farthy Land, drunkenly choosing to build on the same spot in which the casino had sunken. It then caught fire, burned to the ground, and sunk into the mud, taking visitors along with it, resulting in lawsuits and search parties.[2]
