Catch 200 pounds of fish was a mission in The Precursor Legacy that Jak and Daxter completed to earn a power cell and gain access to Misty Island. After stumbling upon him in the Forbidden Jungle, the Fisherman told Jak and Daxter that a lurker shark took a bite out of his fishing boat. He asked Jak to catch 200 pounds of fish for him, who eventually succeeded in doing so.
Completion of this mission in the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4 versions of The Precursor Legacy will unlock the bronze trophy Hand Over Fish.
Walkthrough[]
After crossing the first bridge, walk to the left and jump into the canyon below. You should land next to the Fisherman (especially if you enter the canyon by falling through the bridge). Approach him, watch the cutscene and accept the mission by pressing . While it is mostly dependent on your skill and reflexes, there are a few tips to help you with the following mission:
- You need 200 pounds of fish, each green one is one pound. The yellow fish are five.
- Missing 20 pounds of fish means that the mission is lost. Because of this, the yellow fish are very precious due to their high cost.
- Catching a poisonous eel spoils the whole catch, causing you to fail the mission. Thus, avoid these at all costs.
At the start of the pattern is fairly simple, there will be mostly single-pound fish with the occasional five-pounder and poisonous eel swimming past you. Eventually, they will speed up (three compound times in total) and the pattern becomes more random, with fish appearing suddenly on the left bank followed by one on the right bank. There will also be a phase with mostly poisonous eels and one with mostly five-pounders. The difficulty level of this mission is accumulative; meaning the more you fail the mission, the harder and faster it will be to start with.
Hard mode[]
After completing the challenge, if you approach the Fisherman and press , , , , , , , , , you can speak to him again, unlocking a hard mode of the challenge. The fish in this version are substantially faster, more abundant, and in tougher formations.[1] The minigame only ends when you miss 20 pounds of fish.[2]
When activated and talked to, the Fisherman will re-use dialogue as if you had not completed the challenge yet.
