|Complete 'Defend Spargus from attack'.|
Defend Spargus from attack is a mission in Jak 3. Damas called Jak over the communicator, saying the scope had seen major movements over the water. With Jak being the best gunner, he needed him back at Spargus to defend the city.
Walkthrough[edit | edit source]
At the Spargus gun turret, you will soon enough be attacked by gigantic walkers, large Dark Maker war machines that attack by firing dark eco bombs at you. Shoot the bombs down to avoid being hit. The walker's only weak points are the joints on their knees, shoulders, and the top of their head. These are all marked by reticles and take three shots each to go down.
Each wave of walkers comes in three. The first wave consists of three walkers appearing in the water directly in front of Jak's turret. Because these walkers appear close in proximity to each other and come close to Jak's turret while fighting him (making it relatively easy to not only target the walkers, but also deflect their attacks as well), this is considered to be the easiest part of the mission. The second wave consists of three walkers appearing in the water to the left of Jak's turret. This part of the mission is a bit trickier, because the walkers are farther away from each other and do not come very close to Jak's turret while fighting him. The third wave consists of three walkers appearing in the water to the right of Jak's turret. Here, this wave is dealt similarly as the previous one. Finally, the last wave consists of walkers that appear on the streets of Spargus itself, causing Jak's turret to automatically turn around and face them. Here, these last three walkers will appear with this time firing slow-moving missiles, which are more difficult to target than the bombs are and do more damage to the turret when struck. Shoot these down to finally fend off the Dark Maker's assault.
Note that the best strategy for this mission is for each wave of walkers, focus on taking out one walker at a time before shooting the reticles on any of the others. This way you won't have to worry about deflecting the attacks of multiple walkers at once for as long of a time. Also, for each wave, try not to destroy the middle walker first, because otherwise it will be harder to defend yourself for the remaining two walkers when they are not very close to each other. Finally, go back and forth between shooting the reticles on the head of a walker, then deflect its attacks, then shoot the reticles on its legs, etc. You will most likely get hit a few times, but eventually you will be able to take out all of the walkers in one piece.
