The Hunter lock-on missile is an plane weapon featured in The Lost Frontier. It is the second plane weapon available to Jak, of which two were originally Daxterjacked from Phoenix's plane and installed on the Hellcat by Daxter.[1] It is an effective weapon for taking down the early encounters with Aeropan fighters and repair tenders, but will eventually become obsolete due to a lack of damage against more powerful targets and less tracking ability and damage than the later available swarmer missile.
Unlike the aforementioned missile weapon, the lock-on missile still requires a second of aiming before it has acquired a full lock, after which any missiles fired will chase and hit the desired target. Missiles fired without a complete lock have lesser tracking abilities, though in reality this is negligible in combat. Using the targeting computer mod will speed up the rate of lock-on, however. Despite the inevitable low damage output, the rate of fire and reload speed will hold up for the majority of the earlier missions until more powerful weapons are available.
