The metal-pede is an enemy in Jak II. It is a large arthropod metal head inhabiting Underport, where it makes its first and only appearance during the mission "Escort Sig in Underport".

Though it appears invincible, Sig somehow managed to escape the beast after being seemingly devoured near the end of the mission. However, it remains unclear if he simply escaped from or destroyed the creature.

This metal head shares a name with the Jak 3 metal-pede, but aside from both being metal heads it is unknown how related the two are, if at all. Other than both resembling centipedes, they have noticeably different physiology, behavior, and provenance. However, their limb anatomy and number of body segments (excluding the head) are roughly the same.

Characteristics

These are incredibly large metal heads, closely resembling centipedes (although they only have sixteen legs). They are amongst the largest metal heads; grouped with Metal Kor, grunt elephants, metal head beasts, and are very similar in size to the metal-pede from Jak 3. They have various bio-mechanical traits common to metal heads with metal plating used for armor, and a dark blue skin complexion.

Combat

Metal-pedes do not have any other way to attack than to just charge their target and attempt to eat them, which considering their size is no real problem. It is unknown how they deal with large opponents of similar strength however.

The size of the metal-pede means it is near impossible to attack them head-on with normal hand-held weaponry like the Morph Gun. Even Sig said that attacking it would just make it angry. The only option is to run away and try to lose it, which is pretty difficult since it can even crash through walls and survive long falls on its own. It is not very fast however and on foot can be outrun.
