Interceptor firing the Armageddon

The Interceptor firing the Armageddon.

Plane weapons are equipped on planes in The Lost Frontier. They can be obtained by purchasing them from the Phantom Blade hangar's console, by Daxterjacking enemy ships, or by completing side missions. Weapons are assigned to a plane's weapon slots, which come in fixed sets. You can assign multiple weapons of the same type to a single set, though each set has a maximum capacity of slots. For example, if you assign three flak cannons to a two-slot set, you will ultimately have use of only two flak cannons. The third flak cannon will remain unused and will not flow over to a slot on another set. Likewise, loading two flak cannons onto a four-slot set will only load two and the remaining empty slots cannot be loaded with a different weapon.

For each additional weapon in the load-out, the ammo capacity or volley amount increases. For example, if one flak cannon is loaded at level one, it will fire one shell with an ammo capacity of five shells. Each extra cannon thus adds one extra shell to be fired and increases the ammo capacity by another five shells.

When purchasing an additional weapon, the price will vary based on the inventory slot it will occupy. For example, the slow homing missile for the first slot is bought for 1,200 scrap, while the second and fifth cost 2,400 and 6,000, respectively. This does not depend on the upgrade level nor the number of weapons already obtained. The third and fourth weapons that would cost 3,600 and 4,800 scrap respectively are acquired by means other than the hangar's console and will never become available despite the potentially confusing missing gaps in the purchase prices.

Descriptions[]

Name Description Icon
Machine gun The Punisher machine gun is the default weapon on many planes, offering reliability due to a lack of need to reload and an effective rate of fire, but pales in comparison to later weapons in damage output. Punisher icon
Flak cannon The Thunderhead flak cannon possesses powerful shells that deal lingering damage in the impact area for a short moment to any enemy aircraft that passes through. Its slow firing rate, ammo capacity, and reload time makes it troublesome against quick and larger number of enemies, but in turn it provides excellent damage opportunity against the slow, large, and cumbersome. Laser The solar lance beam laser is very straightforward, offering a long-range, high-speed laser beam that deals heavy damage on contact. However, as it travels directly outward from the ship aiming it can be difficult due to the need to avoid incoming enemy fire. Furthermore, it burns through ammo very quickly. Laser icon
Chain lightning gun The chain lightning gun, also called hyper induction gun, fires electrical orbs that explode when near enemy ships, dispatching an electric bolt to the closest target which arcs to any other nearby enemy ships. Their unique electricity arc damage and the lack of aiming that is required makes it an excellent choice for fast and small ships that travel in groups. Chain lightning gun icon
Vulcan Cannon The Vulcan Cannon, also called Hephaestus' Cannon, is a machine gun-like weapon, firing a rapid stream of dark eco-charged shells. The size of the burst of bullets fired makes aiming less of a hassle and the total damage of the bullets impacting all at once outperforms all previous bullet projectile-type weapons. In turn, it goes through ammo very quickly when fired continuously. Vulcan Cannon icon
Ground attack rocket Ground attack rockets, also called Crucible rockets, are powerful weapons that are incapable of tracking targets, making them only useful for stationary, large, or slow objects (such as the ACS Behemoth or Aeropan transports). They cannot be equipped but will rather come by default on some planes. Ground attack rocket icon
Slow homing missile Slow homing missiles, also called Silverhawk missiles, are among the weakest in all available missile weapons though somewhat make up for it in terms of rate of fire and reload speed. They have some use against slower enemies as any fast opponent will likely be able to dodge these slow automatic homing missiles without too much trouble. Despite this, they are quickly outclassed by other weapon. Slow homing missile icon
Lock-on missile Hunter lock-on missiles are simple but effective homing weapons that fare well against quick and nimble targets encountered early on, though does require a second of consistent aiming before they have properly locked-on. Damage output, reload time, and rate of fire included, this weapon will eventually become insufficient compared to other later weapons. Lock-on missile icon
Swarmer missile The swarmer missile, also called Wolf Pack swarming missile, is a more powerful variant of other more earlier available missiles. They are quick and powerful enough to handle the fastest targets while also damaging the sturdier ones, but severely suffer when it comes to their rate of fire. As swarmer missiles cannot be fired continuously but instead have a short downtime of a second each time after they fire, this is in fact enough time to recover the ammo spent, meaning you will likely never run out, but in turn it severely suffers from damage output when compared to other weapons in lengthier conflicts. Armageddon Armageddon, also called Judgment missile, is the most powerful weapon available. Each missile that is fired will split up into three smaller missiles which in turn also split up, after which each missile rapidly seeks out an enemy, dealing heavy damage. The Armageddon takes some time to reload, but the sheer damage output and lack of aiming required sufficiently makes up for it. Armageddon icon
